冷水サンゴLopheria pertusa．この種は共生藻類を持たず，水深1500mの深海底にも生息し，マウンド状の地形を作る．表面には生物浸食の痕跡が多く認められる．試料は，IODP Expedition 307において掘削されたアイルランド沖ポーキュパイン海盆 Challenger Moundのコア堆積物から回収されたものである．
